1 1/3 cups of flour
1 cup of light brown sugar
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 tablespoon of butter
3/4 cup of chopped pecans
1 cup of chopped dates to which 1 cup of boiling water has been poured over.
1 beaten egg
Cream butter and add the dry ingredients. Add nuts dates and water. Mix well. Stir in the
beaten egg. Pour into a gre ased 8” X 8” pan and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
Topping:
1 cup of light brown sugar
1/2 cup of sour cream
1 cup of da tes, finely chopped
Boil the brown sugar and sour cream together for about 10 minutes on low heat. Add the dates
and boil for 5 minutes longer. Let cool and spread on cooled cake.
