Ingredients and Directions

3 cups of applesauce

3/4 cup of shortening

3 eggs

2 cups of sugar

3 1/2 cups of flour

2 teaspoon of baking soda

4 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 teaspoon of nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon of cloves

1 teaspoon of salt

1 cup of chopped nuts

1 lb. of raisins

1 lb. of orange slice candy

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs until light. Sift dry ingredients together. Add to creamed mixture alternately with applesauce. Add nuts, raisins and cut up gum slices. Bake 1 1/2 hours in 325 degree oven in greased paper lined pans. Fill pans not over 2/3 full.
