Ingredients and Directions

1/4 pound beef, ground

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

8 oz tomato sauce, can

1 each carrot, sliced

2 oz mushrooms, can, stems and pieces

2 tablespoon onion, chopped

2 tablespoon olives, pimento stuffed, sliced

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup wine, dry, red

1 parmesan cheese, grated, optional

In saucepan cook ground beef till browned; drain off fat. Stir in salt and pepper. Add tomato sauce, carrot, mushrooms, onion, olives, and sugar. Stir in water and wine. Cover; simmer for 30-35 minutes or till carrot is tender, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle individual servings with parmesan cheese, if desired. Makes 2 servings.
